Must Read: Ahmed Akanbi tells why lawyers remain poor

The Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos branch, says lawyers must see their practice as business in order to survive the harsh economic conditions.
According to the chairman of the NBA, Lagos Branch Law Week Committee, Ahmed Akanbi, many lawyers remain poor because they neglected the business side of the profession.
Speaking ahead of the branch’s law week, the association expressed concern that some lawyers still engage in sharp practices in spite of many legitimate opportunities existing in the profession.
The chairman noted that with law evolving time to time and new trends in the practice, there is the need for continuous legal education.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has commenced hearing into the suit filed by the Ahmed Makarfi led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party
The apex court adjourned hearing on the case to May 25.
However, Counsel to the PDP Chairman Ali Modu-Sheriff thinks the suit lacks merit and should be discarded.
